To borrow a phrase from Hunter S. Thompson, this strange vehicle was “too weird to live, too rare to die”. The 1960 Plymouth XNR Concept Car served its sole purpose in the car exhibitions of the early 1960s, showcasing the progressive design sensibilities of Plymouth automotive. We imagine the XNR concept wasn’t well reserved in its early years, and this one-off vehicle has led a quiet life since. Now, the Plymouth XNR Concept is heading to the auction block in Monterey, California after a masterful restoration in 2011. This strange stunner will be seeking a new owner that desires a one-of-a-kind relic of eccentric 1960s design. We find it oddly striking, inspiring a strange journey at every turn on the road ahead. [via selectism]
