California’s coast is a genuine American treasure, and there is no better way to experience it than a good old-fashioned road trip. It’s an experience that is available to everyone, be it with a tent and a convertible or something even more iconic– like a custom-designed Airstream trailer. The extended-stay hotelier AKA has teamed up with Airstream2GO and designer Trina Turk to offer such an iconic experience, namely an Airstream “mobile suite” for a curated California road trip. The AKA Mobile Suite is set to accompany travelers up the California coast for a five day journey, providing the design and comfort of a boutique hotel room with the best scenery California has to offer.
The AKA Mobile Suite pairs a GMC Yukon Denali with a 28-foot Airstream trailer. Its interior is appointed by LA-based Trina Turk, who offers a personal styling session for the fairer half before the trip begins. The trip includes two days in the Santa Ynez valley, exploring Sunstone Vineyards and enjoying wine and relaxation in the mountain environment. On day three, AKA Mobile Suite heads to Ocean Mesa Campground, a peaceful overlook with sweeping views of the Pacific and the coastline below. Guests then explore the Santa Barbara Urban Wine Trail, enjoying the fermented fruits of California’s other great wine destination.
A curated adventure in the AKA Mobile Suite doesn’t come cheap, as the 5-day adventure runs at about $6k including the Airstream, the Denali and the included activities. For those of us on a budget, you can’t go wrong with a convertible and a tent, but this once-in-a-lifetime Airstream experience will be waiting for those who start saving now.
