It’s where hi-fi meets haute. Bluetooth speakers are more than just a functional item, they’ve become a fashion accessory in their own right. The Bowers and Wilkins T7 Bluetooth Speaker is the newest Bluetooth beauty from the celebrated British audio brand, a product that clearly embraces both fidelity and fashion.
The Bowers and Wilkins T7 is a portable, battery-powered Bluetooth speaker that delivers plenty of sound for such a svelte system. It does so thanks to a pair of 50mm drive units in a rigid steel housing, a bass radiator system to ensure solid low-frequency response, and a micro-matrix mesh that prevents vibration and buzz in high volume playback. The goal is loud, clean and clear, and each of these components work together to meet those goals.
Reading this text on your tablet, desktop or mobile isn’t going to tell you what’s most important about the Bowers and Wilkins T7. You’re going to need to hear it for yourself, just like any other audio device we cover on TheCoolist. Fortunately, the allure of the T7 is the reputation of Bowers and Wilkins, who put plenty of effort into audiophile class components that are installed in their top level equipment. If they’re going to issue a Bluetooth speaker for consumers like us, you’d have to imagine that they’re staking their reputation on its quality.
Before you can listen, though, you can appreciate its visual sensibility. It’s a lovely device, and that sonically-important “micro-matrix” mesh makes for a fashionable fascia. It’s the kind of thing you’d be proud to show off on a coffee table, a workbench in an artist’s studio, a desk at work. Seeing is believing, but from what we’re told, it sounds as lovely as it looks. It’s available soon for $349.
