Architect Luca Zanaroli has restored a a pair of rustic, abandoned Italian ruins into a countryside home in Morciano di Leuca. By re-using stone masonry from the 1800s, Zanaroli completed this single family home and brought these old abandonments back to live. While the interior is cool, minimal and modern, the rustic exterior appears to salute the architectural history of rural Italy. Beyond the doors of this countryside home, a covered veranda provides an intimate connection with the peaceful surroundings on the heel of Italy. In total, Zanaroli’s work is marvelous– having brought a ruined structure back to life in a sustainable, striking fashion. [via designboom]
