Can your tent handle 100+ mph winds? Can your tent be pitched in a matter of seconds? The new Heimplanet Mavericks Inflatable Expedition Tent can, and it looks great doing it. The Heimplanet Mavericks tent is designed for demanding expedition environments around the world, able to pitch quickly and withstand inclement weather. It uses double-layer air struts that are arranged in diamond crystal formations to maximize strength and efficiency. Inside, a chamber system provides weather and shock safety by separating the living space from the exterior structure and skin of the tent. In total, it is possibly the most advanced tent design ever created, one built for the most demanding weather environments.
If you don’t plan on scaling the Matterhorn or spending the night on the shores of the Antarctic, the Heimplanet Mavericks tent can still be useful for you. However, if you don’t want to spend nearly $7,000 on a tent (yikes!), you can opt for the more accessible Heimplanet Cave Tent. It provides much of the same functionality at a lower wind rating, but at only 1/10th of the price. We featured the Heimplanet Cave Tent in a recent article 10 Adventure Gadgets for Exploring the Great Outdoors, a must-read for fans of tenting technology like this. While the Heimplanet Mavericks tent might be the gold standard for fast-pitching, extreme-wind camping technology, we hope to see more like this from competing brands in the near future. The Heimplanet Cave Tent is a great alternative, but air-based tent structures like this should be the future of camping for casual campers as well.
