Design is a common language. It has dialects for different disciplines, but at the end of the day, the act and process of creation is often the same. Rolls-Royce has shown that the disciplines of automotive styling and fashion design share common ground. The Rolls-Royce Wraith – Inspired by Fashion project takes the venerable Wraith and gives it the edge of high fashion. Where do fashion and automotive design intersect? Rolls-Royce has some curves for you to study.
Rolls-Royce produced a full-on fashion editorial, bringing in models and lights and a photographer to showcase the collaboration.
The Rolls-Royce Wraith – Inspired by Fashion takes visual cues from high end fashion design and injects them into its identity. From colorways to bespoke tailoring options, the Wraith is as fashionable as Rolls-Royce can get. Its exterior is a blank canvas, an all white dress of sorts, featuring a two-tone Andalucian White and Arctic White paint job. Customers can then get a bit selective about its appearance, adding Mugello Red, Jasmine or Tailored Purple accents to its shoulder. This accent color continues indoors, where bespoke stitched detailing brings textures and patterns together like the interior of a handbag.
What is most special about the Rolls-Royce Wraith – Inspired by Fashion edition is the photo shoot that presents it to the world. Rolls-Royce produced a full-on fashion editorial, bringing in models and lights and a photographer to showcase the collaboration. The Wraith’s steering wheel is carried like a handbag. The vehicle is towed by a model sporting high style evening wear. The vehicle becomes the star of the show, the assembly plant becomes the runway, the models show off its allure. For this photo series alone, there truly is a connection between fashion and automotive styling. At least in this figurative sense. [rolls-royce]
