Photographer Zhang Kechun pays homage to the Yellow River of China in this stunning photo feature. The images show the transition of the river from prosperous waters to dry and barren land. Kechun creates soothing images by capturing the subtle tones of the river that seem to fade into the land and sky. As the river flows through China it is used for transportation, food and other resources. The glassy surface of the river becomes more turbulent as it travels through more crowded cities. Eventually the river becomes the sandy hills that once only surrounded it.
