The residents of a living community on a beach in New Zealand have the luxury of utilizing the open air wine room at the Wiroa Station designed by MAP Architects. The design of the wine tasting room takes a minimalist approach as it consists of mostly untreated concrete walls and floor with wood finished accents. A long table provides spaces for the wine and a built concrete wall is home to the assortment of bottles. The wall facing the ocean is left completely open, allowing visitors to experience the full effect of the environment. The deck hangs off far enough, so that visitors of the station do not see the beach line, but rather just the open water and horizon. [via contemporist]
